Cameron Cox scored 11 points in the second half and
Jon Brown had a team-high 19 to lead UWF past West Georgia, 61-57 at the UWF Field House Thursday.
The back-and-forth contest had 16 lead changes and 10 ties. The Argonauts scored the final six points to claim their fourth-consecutive win over the Wolves.
Cox, who finished with 16 points, and Brown combined to score 10 of the team's final 14 points as UWF outscored UWG 17-9 in the last 8:15. The Argonauts led by two with 30 seconds remaining when the Wolves got two open 3-point looks from on their final possession before Cox secured the final rebound with 2.3 to play.
UWF (11-11, 8-7 Gulf South) shot 43 percent from the floor and was 15-of-20 at the free throw line. Brett Carter, Jr. made three 3-pointers and scored a season-high 12 points off the bench.
UWG (6-15, 4-9) got 21 points from Seth Brown-Carter.
The Wolves led 9-6 before an 10-0 run by the Argos put the home squad in at the midway point of the first half. The lead reached 10 before UWG posted the last five points to trim the margin to 31-28 at the break.
UWF will face Shorter (3-18, 0-13) at home on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
