PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida has announced its 2020 football schedule, which features five home games and four contests against Gulf South Conference foes in Pensacola.

The 2019 NCAA Division II National Champions will open play at home on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. against West Virginia Wesleyan at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The game will call for a Whiteout as the Argonauts kickoff the season on a Thursday for the third-consecutive season.

The Argos and Southwest Baptist will face off a week later on Sept. 12 in Bolivar, Mo. before staying on the road to face North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C. on Sept. 19 as Gulf South Conference play begins.

UWF will return home for Family Weekend when the Shorter Hawks come to town on Sept. 26.

October begins with a trip to Cleveland, Miss. to face Delta State on Oct. 3, followed by a highly-anticipated rematch with Valdosta State for Homecoming on Oct. 10. The Argonauts and Blazers played two epic games in south Georgia a year ago, including UWF's dramatic 38-35 win in the second round of the NCAA Playoffs.

UWF makes its third trip to Livingston, Ala. in three years for a matchup with West Alabama on Oct. 17 before a bye week.

The West Georgia Wolves come to town on Halloween night for the Salute to Service game. The Argos head back to Mississippi a week later to face Mississippi College in Clinton before closing the regular-season at home with the Coastal Classic against rival Florida Tech on Nov. 14.

The Shorter and VSU home games will be played at 6 p.m. with the UWG and FT games set for 4 p.m. kickoffs.

The deadline for season ticket renewals has been extended to Friday, Mar. 27 at 5 p.m. New season tickets are on sale where available and can be purchased by calling 850-474-ARGO (2746). Single game tickets will go on sale Monday, Aug. 3.Â

UWF finished the 2019 season on a 6-game winning streak as they claimed the program's first national championship with a 48-40 win over Minnesota State. UWF went 13-2 to complete one of the most remarkable postseason runs in NCAA history, defeating three number one seeds and four-consecutive undefeated teams for the first time ever, en route to the University's 10th team national championship.

The Argos averaged 5,301 fans in home games at Blue Wahoos Stadium in 2019Â to rank among the top 25 in average attendance for the fourth-consecutive season.

The quest for the 2020 national championship begins Nov. 21 with the first round of the NCAA Playoffs. The 2020 National Championship is scheduled for Dec. 19 in McKinney, Texas.Â
