PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF women's basketball team suffered a 66-52 loss to West Georgia at the UWF Field House Thursday night.
The Argonauts pulled to within three points late in the third quarter before the Wolves closed the period on a 7-2 run for a 45-37 lead.
UWF scored the first two baskets of the fourth period to close within four but was unable to get any closer.
Faithe Franklin led all scorers with a game-high 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting. She added seven rebounds and five assists.
Danielle Norquest had 10 points and 16 boards for her 17th double-double of the season.
UWF (6-17, 2-13 Gulf South) shot 38 percent overall and 48 percent in the second half.
UWG (14-7, 7-6) was led by Siera Carter's 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots. The Wolves connected on 40 percent of their shots and made 10 3-pointers.
UWF came out in the opening quarter and grabbed a 15-5 lead. The Wolves fought back in the second frame and tied it at 20 before closing the segment on a 7-0 run to secure a 30-24 lead at the break.
UWF will play host to Shorter on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game will be the annual Play 4 Kay game with all fans encouraged to wear pink in honor of cancer awareness and research. Admission will be free with donations to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund accepted at the game.
