DAY 1 RESULTS
GENEVA, Ohio – The University of West Florida swimming and diving team ended the day with their highest ranking on day one of the NCAA Championships since the 2015-2016 season. The team is currently tied for ninth with Grand Valley at 36 total points.
Kelsey DeJesus and Ester Rizzetto led the way for the Argos, as both athletes earned All-American awards on Wednesday.
DeJesus competed in the 3-meter diving event and placed seventh by posting a final score of 407.70. She became the third freshman in UWF history to be named an All-American in an individual event.
Rizzetto achieved her second All-American finish in her UWF career by swimming a 2:02.92 in the 200 IM, resulting in an 8th place finish. She ended the day with a 12th place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 23.29. Her 12th place finish earned her an Honorable All-America mention.
Rizzetto will compete in two more individual events this week (100 Fly and 100 Free). She will participate in the 100 Fly tomorrow morning at 10AM.
Morgan Ayers swam in the 200 IM as well and finished 24th overall with a prelim time of 2:04.70. Ayers will be competing in two more individual events (100 Breast and 200 Breast) later this week.
Yael Danieli won her heat in the 1000 Free and moved into third place in the UWF record books with a time of 10:15.27. She placed 26th in the event and will swim in the 400 IM tomorrow.
Daniela Reyes also competed in the 3-meter diving event finishing in 21st place with a score of 329.45. She will participate in the 1-meter diving event on Friday.

The UWF 200 Medley Relay team of Aubrey Miller, Morgan Ayers, Stefanie Markwardt and Rizzetto placed 13th with a finals time of 1:42.47. Their 13th place finish earned them an Honorable All-American mention. The team's prelim time of 1:42.28 was a new UWF program record, as they beat their previous record of 1:42.45 that was posted back in December.
Swimming action continues tomorrow with the 200 Free Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, and 400 Medley Relay. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. ET and the finals session will begin at 6 p.m. ET
