PENSACOLA, Fla. – After a great showing in their midweek match against Spring Hill, the University of West Florida Volleyball team kept the momentum rolling on Friday taking down Mississippi College in straight sets.
Now 16-1 (4-0) on the season, the No. 15 ranked Argonauts have now swept fourteen of their seventeen opponents on the years which has helped them get off to one of the best starts in program history.
In tonight's match, it was graduate transfer
Tyler Fezzey jumpstarting the West Florida offense picking up a season-high 16 kills in the match. Not just swinging freely, Fezzey put up these kills with great efficiency as well hitting .536 in the match.
Complementing Fezzey's offensive barrage, middle
Veresia Yon also tacked on eight kills on the night while
Kierra Potts added seven kills herself. As a team, the Argonauts hit .350 on the night racking up 46 total kills on 39 assists.
Defensively, libero
Ashton Marshall led the charge in tonight's match picking up 14 digs over the three sets to give West Florida many more opportunities on the offensive end. On the blocking front, the Argonauts finished with five total team blocks and limited the Choctaws to just a .162 hitting percentage.
This win pushes the Argonauts win streak to 11 now with another strong conference test coming tomorrow against the West Alabama Tigers.
First serve for tomorrow's match will be at 1 pm (CST) from the Field House with the Argonauts playing their final weekend match at home for nearly three weeks.
