Montevallo, Ala.- The Argos finished their trip in Alabama this weekend at Montevallo this Sunday against a resilient Falcons team. The Argos played a hard-fought battle, but ended up losing to the Falcons 1-0. This sets the West Florida record to 4-2-2 for the season.
At the beginning of the first half, the Falcons were off to a strong start with the majority of offensive possessions while keeping West Florida out of the net. In the first forty minutes of the half, the Argos were limited to zero shots. In the 40
th minute,
Jack Patching tried to score a header, but the shot was off-target.
The Argos limited the Falcons to four shots on the half. West Florida goalkeeper,
Jihad Gomes had two saves to keep the score tied at zero.
Heading into halftime, the score remained 0-0.
The Argos came out of halftime more aggressive.
Austin Marshick had a look at the net, but missed high in the 54
th minute. UWF offensive leaders,
Ed Chappe and
Kainan Dos Santos had one shot each on the half, but weren't able to convert.
In the 78
th minute, the Montevallo defender, Jonathan Guadarrama scored to give the Falcons the lead 1-0.
The Argos had a good look by
Keegan Ancelin in the 81
st minute, but his header was saved by the Falcons goalkeeper. In the second half, the Argos had five shots and two of those shots came from UWF captain,
Ed Chappe.Â
At the end of regulation, the Argos had many good looks on the net, but it wasn't enough to upend the Falcons. Montevallo end up winning 1-0.
