CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Taking on Lee in their first of two matches on the weekend, the No. 13 ranked University of West Florida Volleyball team wasted no time showing their dominance in tonight's match taking down the Lady Flames in straight sets.
Now 21-1 on the season including a perfect 9-0 mark in Gulf South Conference play, the Argonauts have been on a historic win streak over these past few weeks tying their longest win streak in program history with their win tonight.
Dominant in every aspect of tonight's match, the Argonauts got ahead early and pushed their lead to double-digits in every set.
Offensively,
Tyler Fezzey led the charge tonight for West Florida finishing with 13 kills on a .650 hitting percentage.
Madi Cooler,
Veresia Yon, and
Jenna Zydlo all found great success on offense as well tonight each finishing with seven or more kills in part of the teams 43 total kills in the match.
Setter
Taylor Vaneekeren had another great game tonight turning in 35 assists as well as a 14 point service run where she picked up many of her four aces in the match.
The Argonauts strong blocking ability was in full force once again tonight as West Florida finished the match with 11 blocks over the three sets to cause the Lady Flames many headaches on the offensive side of the ball. In total, the Argonauts were able to limit Lee to a -.071 hitting percentage in the match and only allowed 14 kills total over the three sets.
Sights will now turn to tomorrow as West Florida travels to Shorter for a clash between the last two unbeaten teams in the conference. First serve is set for 1 pm (CST) from the Winthrop-King Center in Rome, Georgia in what is sure to be one of the top matches in the conference all season.
