MONTEVALLO, Ala- The University of West Florida Women's Soccer team defeated the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers 1-0 on Tuesday evening. The Argos are now 9-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in Gulf South Conference action.
UWF started the game with an electric energy that allowed them to take multiple shots early on. In the 16th minute
Peyton Peffers headed the ball with an assist from Kiliegh Whited to give the Argos the 1-0 lead.
Throughout the first half of the game UWF had 13 shots and limited CBU to two. Goalkeeper
Charline Favier faced two shots in the first half and picked up two saves.
During the second half of the game the team continued to dominate across the field, taking 10 shots. Offensively
Blair Cowan,
Peyton Peffers,
Destiny Hammac and
Brianna Pope were dominant up front firing off multiple shots. Defensively the Argos were led by
Hannah Wooten, Kiliegh Whited and
Bailey Erwig. The three defenders limited the Lady Bucs ability to take shots once they reached the backfield, forcing them to lose possession.
Favier, faced one shot in the second half and ended the night with three saves.
Christian Brothers was limited to three shots during the second half. Lady Buccaneer Goalkeeper Riley Chafin ended the night with 12 saves.
Overall UWF outshot CBU 23 to five with 15 shots on goal. Both teams had two corner kicks.
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Oct.29 against Delta State, followed by Mississippi College on Oct.31.
