FORT VALLEY, GA- The Argos got off to a quick start with a 10-0 run to start the game. At first media timeout West Florida led 17-5, with
Daniel Sofield already in double figures. Sofiled was the team's leading scorer with 19 points. West Florida is now 2-0 to start the season.
As a team West Florida dominated both offensively and defensively from start to finish, jumping out ahead early. The Argos shot 57.1 percent from the field during the first half and had a three-point percentage of 54.5. The Argos had 22 rebounds in the first half. Jejuan Weatherspoon led the team with nine rebounds.
West Florida continued their dominance in the second half of the game leading by 17 points with eight minutes remaining in the second half. Wendell Matthews had another night in double figures with 10 points. The Argos scoring was scattered with the entire team contributing on offense and defense. LaTrell came from off the bench and had 12 points and five assists in the win. Conor Flanagan knocked down three, three-pointers and finished the night with 13 points.
As a team West Florida was 15-34 from the field for a percentage of 44.1. UWF outrebounded CAU in the second half 24-18.
Overall UWF shot 50.7 percent from the field and had a three-point percentage of 41.4 percent. UWF finished the night with 46 rebounds. Clark Atlanta University's leading scorer was Jalen Williams with 23 points.
West Florida will be back in action on the road against Tuskegee on Tuesday, Nov.16 at noon.
