MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For the sixth time in program history, the University of West Florida Volleyball team has finished the regular season unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play sweeping Auburn Montgomery on Saturday to improve to 16-0 on the season.
Now 31-1 on the season, the No. 7 ranked Argonauts will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GSC Tournament which will be hosted in Pensacola, Florida at the UWF Field House.
Against the Warhawks, West Florida came out firing and connected on 20 kills in the first set on an outstanding .600 hitting percentage. Sets two and three followed suit similarly with the Argonauts securing their 24
th sweep of the season.
Freshman
Alex Oliver led the team in kills on the afternoon totaling 13 kills on a .400 hitting percentage to finish as one of three players in double-digit kills. The other two players to total 10 or more kills on the afternoon were
Madi Cooler and
Veresia Yon who continued their stretch of dominance as of late.
Setter
Taylor Vaneekeren was once again on her best game today finishing with 35 assists in the match for an average of 11.67 assists per set. In addition to her offensive efficiency, Vaneekeren also totaled 11 digs in the match to finish with another double-double on the season.
Ashton Marshall was a key once again defensively against the Warhawks finishing with a team high 12 digs in the match. Her efforts as well as 11 blocks from the team helped limit Auburn Montgomery to a .020 hitting percentage on the afternoon.
