Pensacola, Fla.- The West Florida men's soccer team defeats Lee 2-1 to win the GSC Championship. This is the 10
th GSC Championship title for this men's soccer program and 19
th GSC Tournament appearance.
This improves the West Florida record to 12-3-3 on the year and 7-3-1 in the GSC.Â

Kainan Dos Santos,
Ed Chappe, and
Lucas Barankiewicz were named to the GSC All-Tournament team.The senior from Reading, England, Chappe, earned Most Outstanding Player in the GSC tournament.
The No. 4 Lee Flames came out early in the first half aggressive offensively. The Flames had four shots in the first fifteen minutes. West Florida goalkeeper
Jihad Gomes had two incredible saves in the 13
th and 15
th minute. Captain
Lucas Barankiewicz played great defensively for the Argos. Barankiewicz had a great sliding tackle in the 17
th minute to give the Argos possession. The Flames won the possession battle 60-40 in the first half.
Leading scorers Dos Santos and
Keegan Ancelin had one shot a piece in the first half.
The Flames got the first goal in the 35
th minute, made by forward Mattia Balzano. The Argonauts wanted an offsides call, but they were unable to get it. The Flames were the first ones to get on the board in the GSC final.
Lee outshot the Argos 7-3 in the first half.
Jihad Gomes was big in the net with three saves in the first half. In the first half, Lee had five corner kicks to the Argos zero.
Coming into the second half, the Argos score their first goal off a free kick by
Ed Chappe into the top right of the net in the 48
th minute.
A minute later,
Bernardo Torres headed it into the net to give the Argos the lead 2-1. The assist was handed to
Kainan Dos Santos.
The Flames registered five corner kicks to the Argos one. The first corner kick for the Argos was taken by
Ed Chappe in the 71
st minute.
Keegan Lynch headed the ball and just missed the net.
The Flames outshot the Argos 12-10. Lee also registered eight corner kicks to the Argos one.
The Argos were able to hold off the Flames to win the GSC Championship 2-1. This is the 108
th conference championship for the University of West Florida.
