DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. The University of West Florida Women's Soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating Embry-Riddle on Sunday afternoon. The Argos went to overtime and
Blair Cowan scored the Argos lone goal of the game, solidifying the win.

During the first half of the game UWF played exceptional defense, limiting the Eagles to just one shot. The Argos came out hot and had eight shots during the first half with seven of them being on goal. West Florida also had three corner kicks, compared to Embry-Riddles one.

Embry-Riddle goalkeeper Oona Jokinen had five saves during the first half to stall the Argos scoring.

In the second half both teams played a more balanced game with West Florida and Embry-Riddle having six shots each. UWF had one corner kick and ERAU had two. West Florida goalkeeper
Charline Favier had three saves during the second half to keep Embry-Riddle off the board.

With both teams being tied at zero after 90 minutes of regulation the game was forced to overtime.

UWF wasted no time in regulation in the 93
rd minute of play
Blair Cowan scored the golden goal and solidified the 1-0 win, advancing the team to round three of the NCAA Tournament.
"The whole team the whole game was telling me to shoot it," said
Blair Cowan. "I knew we were really close and we had the momentum going in the first overtime and I took a touch and looked up and saw it go in. As soon as I hit it I knew it was going in.Â

Throughout the game West Florida controlled much of the tempo playing tough defense across the field. Eight Argos played the entire 94 minutes during the win.Â
"It's always in our game plan to try and put people on their back foot, so that's what we've worked on." Head Coach
Joe Bartlinski continued, Â "It's to try and get on our front foot and put pressure. They were committed to the cause and pressing all the way to the front runners to the midfielders and winning headers and duals. They battled and that is in our nature to not let teams attack us."
West Florida advanced to round three of the NCAA Tournament which will begin on Dec.3.
