The hosts would go on an immediate 12-0 run, building their lead to 26-15 with 8:55 left before UWF would climb back into the game. A 14-2 run, capped off with a jumper by Mckelphin saw West Florida wrestle the advantage back at 29-28 late in the period, leading to the visitors carrying a one-point advantage into the break.
Kendall Bynum and Matthews accounted for the first six points of the second period, giving the Argos a seven-point seperation. That seperation between the teams only grew larger in the second half, eventually ballooning to as many as 17 after a three-point field goal by
Conor Flanagan. Flanagan finished with seven points. The Warhawks would cut the lead down to five at two seperate times late in the contest, but West Florida remained strong down the stretch as Matthews, Mckelphin and Bynum went on a combined 7-0 run to finish the game.
Bynum finished by tying a career-high eight points, playing a season-high 34 minutes in his first start of the season. The freshman also had three assists.

UWF had 20 points off 15 AUM turnovers and lost the rebounding battle, 36-35, a day after a 50-27 rebounding advantage was held by AUM. Flanagan and Matthews had seven and six boards apiece, to help the Argos in the rebounding battle.
"We had various guys make big shots", Burkhamer continued. "It was a great bounce back win today."
