Cameron Cox and
Tarik Mckelphin both scored 17 points but the UWF Men's Basketball Team fell at home against the Valdosta State Blazers in the regular season finale.

Three players for UWF finished with double-digit scoring for tonight's finale; Cox and Mckelphin with 17, while sophomore guard
Daniel Sofield contributed with 11.

The opening half saw a tightly contested game with neither team gaining an edge until the final three minutes. At the end of the first, UWF held onto a seven-point lead with the score at 35-28.

The second half saw both teams pulling away at different points of the game. UWF was able to stretch their lead to 10, their largest of the game.

VSU struck back with a 13-point run of their own, with their largest lead being 67-58 with just about two minutes to go.

Not ready to throw in the towel just yet, a three-point play by Cox cut the deficit to five making it a two-possession game at 74-69 with 23 seconds left; with the Argos eventually falling 76-69.

The Argos outmatched Valdosta State in the fast break points department, 18 to Valdosta State's four.

UWF ends the season with a record of 7-12 while VSU moves to the top of the division at 14-4.

Mckelphin also finished the game with a double-double; an impressive five of his 10 rebounds came from crashing the offensive glass. Mckelphin finishes his year with eight double-doubles.

Tonight's finale was also Senior Night for UWF; Cox, Mckelphin, and senior guard
Brett Carter, Jr. all played their final games for UWF tonight as graduating seniors.
