At the end of the opening quarter, UWF led with a commanding 25-4 lead.
In the second quarter however, the tables would turn for the Argos. UWG would rally back with a 13-0 run of their own.
By the end of the first half, West Georgia cut their first quarter deficit to just four points, trailing the Argos 32-28.
Lewis led the Argos in scoring at the end of the half, contributing 11 points along with a trio of long-range jumpers.
The third quarter saw both teams trading blows in an evenly matched, grind it out slugfest. There was a total of eight lead changes in this quarter alone, with three being the largest lead by any team.
Two minutes into the third, a jumper by Carter gave the Wolverines their first lead of the game at 33-32. The quarter would end hotly contested as both sides would be tied 46-46.
The final quarter saw the Argos pulling away with the game, as they never trailed for the rest of the game. A pair of free throws by Hulmi in the closing seconds sealed the victory for West Florida, 67-59.
