BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UWF wide receiver
Rodney Coates was named the Gulf South Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after collecting 126 yards and two touchdowns to help the top-ranked Argonauts to a 63-14 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday.
Coates' scoring catches went for seven and six yards, and he averaged 14.0 yards per catch. His scores tied the game at 7-7 and put UWF up 21-7 as part of the 63 unanswered points. The senior from Grove Hill, Alabama ran his season totals to 194 yards on 13 receptions and three touchdowns.
This is the second-consecutive week an Argonaut player has won the award following
Austin Reed winning last week.
UWF (2-0) will play its next game on the road, traveling to Texas A&M Commerce (1-1) on Saturday night. The game will kickoff at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
