Argonauts Sweep the Warhawks in Front of Packed Field House

Eleven of West Florida’s thirteen wins have now come by sweep

PENSACOLA, Fla. – In front of a packed Field House for our annual Black Out match, the University of West Florida Volleyball teamed shined bright on the court taking down conference opponent Auburn Montgomery in straight sets.

Now 13-1 on the season including a 2-0 mark in conference play, West Florida has picked up eleven of their thirteen victories in sweeping fashion including every match played at the Field House this season.

After being down most of the first set, the Argonauts were able to fight back to win the first set and didn't let the Warhawks regain the lead the rest of the match.

With 45 kills on 41 assists, West Florida was led by Alex Oliver who posted another double-double on the night including a team-high 14 kills. Veresia Yon, the reigning AVCA National Player of the Week, once again had a great night for the Argos finishing with 11 kills and a team-high 13 points in the match.

Setter Taylor Vaneekeren continued to run the Argonaut offense at a high level tonight dishing out 32 assists in the match while also adding three kills and a team-high four blocks on the night.

Defensively, Ashton Marshall led the way for West Florida in digs with 14 total in the match. The strong defensive push helped the Argonauts hold Auburn Montgomery to just a .138 hitting percentage tonight.

Right back at it again tomorrow, it will be West Georgia coming to town with first serve scheduled for 1 pm (CST) from the Field House. The Argonauts will look to carry their momentum from tonight into tomorrow's match and move their winning streak up to nine matches.
