PENSACOLA, Fla. – On a season filled with many milestones already, the University of West Florida Volleyball team checked another one off their list on Saturday earning their one-hundredth straight regular-season home conference win.
Dating back to the 2009 season, this streak has been upheld by numerous teams and players and is a testament to the program Head Coach
Melissa Wolter has built during her time here.
From today's match, the No. 16 ranked Argonauts were able to take down West Georgia in straight sets to improve to 14-1 on the season as well as 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play.
Taking control early in the match, it was right side
Tyler Fezzey who stepped up big today totaling 14 kills for a new season-high.
Veresia Yon and
Alex Oliver continued their impressive stretch of matches each picking up eight or more kills against the Wolves.
Setter
Taylor Vaneekeren had another solid all-around performance today finishing with 34 assists, nine digs, and two aces in the match.
Blocking was another huge facet of West Florida's success against the Wolves as they pick up 10 total team blocks including four or more from Yon, Fezzey, and
Jenna Zydlo. This effort limited West Georgia to just a .027 hitting percentage on the day including 22 attacking errors.
Next up for the Argonauts is a midweek trip to Mobile, Ala. where they will face off with familiar foe Spring Hill. Then next weekend West Florida will return to the UWF Field House to take on Mississippi College and West Alabama on Friday and Saturday.
