West Florida Drops Conference Match to West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga-On Sunday the University of West Florida Women's Soccer team fell to the West Georgia Wolves 1-0. The Argos are now 4-1-0 and 0-1-1 in conference play. 

The Argos and Wolves were scoreless throughout the first half. Both teams defense kept scoring opportunities limited.  West Florida did continue to outshot their opponent in the first half, having  five shots and three corner kicks, compared to West Georgia's one shot and three corner kicks.
 

The Argo defense limited the Wolves scoring opportunities throughout the entire first half. Kileigh Whited and Hannah Wooten intercepted a number of Wolves attempts at getting into scoring territory. Goalkeeper Charline Favier had one save. 

During the second half of the game Kelsey Brann entered the game at the goalkeeper position. The Argos and Wolves continued to battle throughout the second half. During the 74th minute West Georgia's Jasmine Santiago scored the lone goal of the game. 

West Florida continued to attack throughout the second half but were unable to score. During the second half the Argos outshot the Wolves 11-3 and had six corner kicks. 

Overall the Argos outshot the Wolves 16-4 with nine corner kicks compared to the Wolves three. 

Next up the Argos will face Union University on Friday, Oct 2 at the UWF Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Fla.
