PENSACOLA, Fla. –
Jaclyn Jarnot finished with 25 points and 21 rebounds to help lift UWF to a 56-52 come-from-behind win over Delta State at the UWF Field House Saturday.
Trailing all but seven minutes in the game, the Argonauts fought back from a 10-point deficit late in the third quarter, keyed by some strong defense and 13 fourth-quarter points from Jarnot. She made four 3-pointers and was 10-of-22 from the field.
UWF (13-2, 8-1 Gulf South) struggled from the floor for the first three quarters before making 7-of-14 in the final 10 minutes while outscoring the Lady Statesmen 22-12.
Zoe Pillar had 11 points and seven rebounds while
Gabby Brown added eight points and a pair of steals.
Delta State (7-7, 5-4) was led by T'Kyra Hicks who finished with a team high 13 points while also adding eight rebounds.
The Lady Statesmen never trailed until Jarnot's 3-pointer with 7:24 left in the fourth. They regained the lead with a pair of free throws, but the Argos responded with a 9-0 run to take control.
Jarnot's 20-20 game was the first in the GSC this season. UWF improved to 7-0 at home this season while handing the Last Statesmen their fourth-consecutive loss.
UWF will return to play next week with road games at No. 11/19 Union (12-2, 7-0) on Thursday and Christian Brothers (4-11, 3-6) on Saturday.
