Christian Brothers Snaps Four Game Win Streak

Wendell Matthews led West Florida in scoring with 20 points

Memphis, Tenn.- The University of West Florida Men's basketball team saw their four game win streak come to an end at the hands of Christian Brothers on Saturday night. CBU defeated UWF 78-74 in Canale Arena. The Argos are now 15-4 overall, 9-3 in conference and third in conference standings.

"I knew this was going to be a very hard game," said Head Coach Jeff Burkhamer.  "Credit CBU for how they played. We did not handle their physicality well.  We got out toughed in the toughness stats.  They kicked us on the glass and were quicker to loose balls.   And, we were unable to guard them off the dribble.  We have to learn how to play through no calls and be stronger on both ends of the floor.  We did some very uncharacteristic things tonight and it cost us.  We will find out a lot about our team in the next couple of weeks."

The Argos jumped out to an early lead to start the game and led 9-2 at the first media timeout. The squad's success continued throughout the first half as UWF led 31-28 at halftime. Wendell Matthews was the leading scorer with 10 points.
