Pensacola, Fla. --- After a weekend of two wins and 10 goals scored, many Argo players move up to top 15 in leader boards and remain at number one in the GSC standings. The University of West Florida women's soccer team looks to add onto their six-game winning streak as they play their final conference road games against #11 Lee for a top 25 matchup and Shorter.

A Look Back at the Success
The Argos (9-2-1 overall, 7-1 GSC) took on the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks (Sep. 30) in a 5-0 win and defeated the Montevallo Falcons (Oct. 2) 5-1 and dropped the team in the GSC standings from two to four.

The Argos scored five goals in 54 minutes against the Warhawks with sophomore
Hailey Bastian opening the game with her first season goal in the 6
th minute with a double assist from
Blair Cowan and
Mya Swinton who sit at the top 5 in assists in the GSC.

With the third most minutes on the team,
Ahnalie Layman recorded her fourth assist of the season with a cross to
Manami Okada who scored her third goal and second off a header. Shortly after, Okada earned her first assist on the season with a quick one-two combination with
Kileigh Whited who got it off to Cowan just in front of the box to score her first goal of the game. Cowan followed with two more goals to earn her second hat trick of the season that were assisted by Swinton and freshman
Katie Lewellyan who earned her first career point.

The Argos continued showing their strength on both sides of the field in the following match as the team put up another five goals against the Falcons and only allowed one goal in. The Argos did not waste any time as the dynamic duo of Cowan and Swinton up top connected to get a quick 2-0 lead in less than four minutes.

The following two goals began from set pieces as Cowan found Whited on the side post and a corner from Layman led to an own goal to end the first half with a 4-0 lead.

Ten minutes into the second half, Cowan went on to get her third and final goal of the game to record yet another hat trick. Cowan tallied a total of 14 points over the course of the weekend and leads the team with 28 points.

New and Improved Leaders on the Board
- In 12 games, Cowan has the third most shots in the conference with 38 and Okada has the fourth most with 32.
- In 11 played games, Swinton ranks 12 in shots coming at 21.
- Cowan is fourth in game-winning goals at three and Okada is 11th with two.
- Cowan is the only Argo player that sits in the top 15 with shots on goal. At 20 shots on goals, she has the fourth most in the conference and averages 1.67 shots on goal per game.
- Six Argo players take the top 15 spots in assists with Swinton leading the pack after earning six in 11 games. Cowan and Layman follow behind in the five and six rankings with four assists and taking the final three spots in the top 15 is White, Julia Comin and Kaytlyn Larsen with three assists apiece.
- Cowan is tied for first with the most points in the conference, tallying 28 (12 goals, 4 assists).
- Over the weekend, Swinton worked her way to the top 15 in points to join Cowan. With a total of 10 points, Swinton averages .91 points a game and is tied for 12th in the conference.

GSC Players of the Week
Cowan was named Gulf South Conference player of the week and graduate student Whited was named defensive player of the week after earning two wins over Auburn Montgomery and Montevallo.

Cowan scored three goals on five shots and earned one assist in each game to tally a total of 14 points over the course of two games. She now has three hat tricks on the season and totals 12 goals and four assists. Cowan is tied at first with points (28) and has the second most goals in the conference.

Whited was awarded an assist against Auburn Montgomery and scored off a corner kick on Montevallo to earn her first goal of the season. She helped the defense hold their opponents to two shots on goal with only one falling in. Whited has one goal and three assists on the season.

National Player of the Week
Cowan's outstanding 14-point performance awarded her to be the fourth women's Argo player named United Soccer Coaches player of the week announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Climbing into the Top 25 National Polls
On Tuesday morning, the Argos were placed No. 25 on the United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII poll following wins over Auburn Montgomery and Montevallo in last week's matchups.

Scouting the #11 Lee Flames
Lee Flames (7-0-4 overall, 5-0-2) is the three seed in the GSC standings with 17 conference points and the nation's #14 team as they remain undefeated in the season so far.

After a 2-2 tie against West Georgia (Sep. 23) the Flames answered back in the following matches and are on a two-game winning streak. The Flames defeated Valdosta State (Sep. 25) 5-1 with four different players scoring. Ellie Crisler recorded a two-goal game got the Flames on the board first with a goal in the 5
th minute.

The Flames played one game over the past weekend and took down Shorter 7-0. Forwards Grace Berry and Kassidy Kellett both scored two apiece with Kellett recording her first season goals.

The Colorado native Ellie Crisler leads the team with 12 goals and three assists. Crisler has been awarded GSC Player of the Week three times this season, two coming in back-to-back weeks. Crisler earned the awards after a four-goal game (most in a single game for the program) and scoring insurance goals in back-to-back games to give the Flames 2-0 wins over Mississippi College and Delta State.

Senior Kate Dirkse is last week's GSC Defender of the Week after scoring off a corner kick in a West Georgia tie and scoring a go-ahead goal on a penalty kick against Valdosta State. Dirkse totals four goals and two assists to have the third most points on the team.

Argo vs. Flame History
The Argos have a 4-6-2 history record against the Flames beginning in 2013. The Argos have lost the last four matchups since 2018 with three games being 1-0 losses.

The Argos lost 2-0 in regular conference play with a goal from Crisler. Both goals were scored in the second half and gave UWF their second loss of the 2021 season.

Lee and the Argos met up in the semifinals of the GSC tournament last year. The lone goal came from the graduate student Lauren Weimer in the 74
th minute that was assisted by Dirkse. Weimer has one goal and two assists on the 2022 season. Two of the three UWF losses before entering the NCAA tournament were by Lee.

Scouting the Shorter Hawks
Shorter (0-11-1 overall, 0-7) sits last in the conference standings as they have yet to win a game in 12 games played. The Hawks have scored three goals in the season that came from a 2-2 tie against Faulkner University (Sep. 2) and in a 4-1 loss to West Georgia (Sep. 25).

Junior midfielder Ciara Chacon leads the team with two goals and freshman Kayla Watts follows behind with one goal. Chacon scored her second goal against West Georgia to get on the board in the second half to come back from a 3-0 deficit but would be the only Shorter goal scored.

Goalkeeper Katherine Fisher has recorded 71 saves in 674 minutes and 11 starts and Chloe Ravish has 34 saves in eight games played to total 405 minutes to protect the net.

The Argos are on a perfect 11-0 overall record against the Hawks that began in 2012.

Cowan, Layman and
Lauren Ragazzone each scored a goal and earned one assist in the latest matchup in a 4-0 victorious win in 2021.

The last time a Hawk player scored against the Argos was back in 2014. The Hawks were the first to get on the board but the Argos bounced back with an answer and took the lead after sinking one in the net in the 83
rd minute to get the win.
