Rob and Shannon Ledford are new to the Argo family as Argonaut Athletic Club members. The Ledfords connected with the Athletics staff at New Student Orientation while moving their son who plays in the Argo Athletic Band. What started as an interest in UWF football tickets spurred further support. Rob is an avid soccer fan and when he heard the UWF Men's Soccer program was without an endowment he jumped at the cause. Rob and Shannon Ledford have created the Ledford Family Men's Soccer Scholarship Endowment. This endowment will provide scholarship support to the program for the life of the program. Rob and Shannon, we cannot thank you enough for your generous support of our men's soccer program and UWF Athletics as a whole. We appreciate you!
"I am a huge soccer fan," Rob said. "I played from childhood, both recreationally and competitively. I have traveled to see games across the US and across the world to support the teams I love. I even sport a giant tattoo of my favorite club. The sport is passion, disappointment, and exhilaration."
The endowment will provide an impact on student-athletes. There were options for brick-and-mortar donations that will support student-athletes across many sports, for years to come. An endowment will provide for specific student-athletes. It allows the program to recruit and impact one student in a meaningful way. It gives an opportunity to a kid who may otherwise miss out.
"UWF men's soccer has a great history. I have teammates and buddies who played for UWF. When my son was looking at Universities the person giving the tour mentioned the titles UWF athletics holds in a variety of sports. As a soccer fan, I keyed in on that sport. My son decided on UWF from his first minutes on campus. The campus, the history, the offerings, and the legacy all have a great story to tell and to write, well into the future. My wife and I wanted to support the University athletics program. When I found out there was no scholarship for the men's soccer program I was determined to focus my contribution on the program. We are excited to support UWF Men's Soccer and continue the legacy of UWF champions."
