NCAA Divers Qualification List
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The UWF women's swimming and Diving team will send ten student-athletes to the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina in two weeks following the invited athletes list that was released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The swimmers for UWF will include
Ester Rizzetto,
Yael Danieli,
Stefanie Markwardt, and
Brooke Simila.
Aimee Patterson,
Brooke Dorr, and
Morgan Mangum will join the Argos in the 200 Free relay and 400 Medley Relay.
Ester Rizzetto leads the swimmers by qualifying for four individual events (100 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Back, and 100 Free). She was recently named NSISC Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual events and setting two new conference records. This is the fourth straight year Rizzetto has made it to the NCAA Championships. Rizzetto is currently seated first in the 100 Free, sixth in the 100 Fly, ninth in the 100 Back, and sixth in the 50 Free.
Another key swimmer for the Argonauts will be
Yael Danieli. At the NSISC Championships, Danieli dominated in the pool after winning the 400 IM and 1650 Free and then, placing second in the 200 Back. Danieli will be competing in the 1650 Free and 400 IM at the championships. This marks her third year swimming at the NCAA Championships. Danieli is seated seventeenth in the 400 IM and fifteenth in the 1650 Free.
Stefanie Markwardt returns to the NCAA Championships after competing last year in the 100 Fly. This year Markwardt will be swimming once again in the 100 Fly.
For her championship debut,
Brooke Simila will be swimming the 200 Breast. Simila competed in this event at the NSISC Championships posting a time of 2:20.50. She won the event to help the Argonauts secure the NSISC title.
Aimee Patterson and
Morgan Mangum will be making their first championship appearance. Both of these swimmers will help the Argos compete in the 200 Free relay and 400 medley relay.
Brooke Dorr enters the NCAA Championships for her second championship appearance. She will be helping the Argos compete in the 200 Free relay and 400 medley relay.
On the boards,
Kelsey DeJesus,
Michelle Mejia, and
Daniela Reyes will compete for UWF in the Division II NCAA Diving Qualification meet on Tuesday, March 8 to determine who will advance to the championship meet. A year ago, the Argos had a program record three student-athletes advance out of the qualifier and participate in the championships on both boards.
All three of these divers performed exceptionally well to help the Argonauts win their third straight NSISC Championship. As the NSISC Diver of the Meet,
Kelsey DeJesus won both the 1-meter (438.15) and 3-meter (486.10) competition. This will make her third appearance at the NCAA Diving Qualification meet. Last year, DeJesus earned CSCAA All America First Team in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competition.
At the NSISC Championships, Mejia finished fourth in the 1-meter competition posting a score of 385.80. As a freshman, Michell Mejia made her championship debut, so this will make it her second appearance.
Daniela Reyes returns for her third appearance at the NCAA Qualification meet. At last year's NCAA Championships, Reyes earned CSCAA All-America First Team in the 1-meter with a score of 419.35. She recently finished third at the NSISC Championships posting a score of 427.00.
