PENSACOLA, Fla. – Jaclyn Jarnot had a career-high 28 points and the UWF women's basketball team shot 57 percent in the first half to cruise to a 74-60 win over Alabama Huntsville on Saturday.

UWF (15-6, 9-5 Gulf South) made 10 3-pointers, including 8-of-15 in the first 10 minutes, as the team beat UAH for the sixth time in the last seven meetings.

Jarnot, who didn't play in the first meeting against the Chargers last month, was the catalyst as she scored 15 in the first half while the Argos built a 43-28 lead at the break. The back-breaker was when UWF scored the first 17 points of the second quarter, turning a 2-point game into a 36-17 lead.

Jarnot ended the night with four triples as she pushed her career scoring total to 814 points. She added a game-high 14 rebounds for her 13th double-double.

The Argos ended the game at 45 percent while they regained their rebounding swagger with 45 boards and a plus-10 rebound margin. They added 16 offensive boards – their most in 12 games – that led to 13 second-chance points.

"We found the basket today," UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton said. "We shared the ball and found open players. Our confidence was through the roof. Everyone in the gym could feel it."

Charlotte Ellmore also made four 3-pointers and had 12 points, matching fellow starter Zoe Piller in the scoring column. Piller had five offensive boards and drew nine fouls to lead all players in both categories.

Maddie Griffon had eight assists, one shy of her career high set exactly a year ago in a game at East Tennessee State when she played at Furman.

UAH (3-14, 2-10) was held to 36 percent and had 19 turnovers that UWF scored 20 points off of. Miajah Bullock had 15 points off the bench to lead the Chargers.

UWF will hit the road next week for games at Montevallo on Thursday and Auburn Montgomery on Saturday.
