PENSACOLA, Fla.- Back for their third straight match at home this week, the West Florida Women's Tennis Team defeated Gulf South Conference foe Lee 6-2 on a beautiful Thursday afternoon in Pensacola, Fla. The Argonauts improve to 3-5 while the Flames fall to 3-6.

"We've been on the road for pretty much all of the first part of the season so it is very nice for the girls and the guys to be able to get a bunch of matches the next few weeks at home," said head coach Derrick Racine about being back on their home courts.

Beginning the match, Nathalia Mossambani and Guiliana Succo teamed up from the No. 1 position, the duo ultimately dropped their match 1-6.

Sara Yigin and Mayumi Saguchi got the momentum going for the Argonauts winning their match from the No. 2 position 6-3. Irene Rcuenco and Raissa Wagner came in as the No. 3 position and swept their match 6-0.

In singles, the Argos dominated the court winning five out of the six matches.

From the No. 2 position, Yigin dominated the court, winning her match 6-2, 6-0. Mossambani played an intense match against the Flames, she won the first set 6-3, dropped the second set 4-6, and won the tiebreaker in a close set 7-6.

From the bottom of the lineup, Saguchi won her match in two straight sets 6-1, 6-3 from the No. 4 position. Wagner came in as the No. 5 position and dominated her match 6-3, 6-4. Karolina Silwanowicz played a great match against the Flames, she won the first set 6-3, dropped the second 5-7, and won the tiebreaker to earn more points for the Argos.

"It was a good match for the girls today. We won the devils point and then one pretty much every first setting singles," said Racine. "It was great to get our second home win this season, it is always good to play in front of our home crowd."

West Florida will play next week back at home against GSC opponent Valdosta on Tuesday, March 15.
