PENSACOLA, Fla.
- The fifth-ranked UWF women's volleyball team will look to continue its early season success at the top Division II tournament in the country this week. After a 2-year absence, the Argonauts will make their 11th appearance in the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver, Colorado this weekend.

UWF (4-0) is coming off an undefeated weekend where they bested three teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament a year ago and finished it off with a thrilling 5-set win over then-No. 8 Central Missouri.

Some highlights from last weekend included:
  • Senior setter Taylor Vaneekeren being named Tournament MVP and then GSC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Sophomore libero Meg Brackhan being named to the All-Tournament Team and then the GSC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Avery Rodgers being named to the All-Tournament Team.
  • Head coach Melissa Wolter winning her 500th career match as a head coach. She is now 502-198 (.717) in her 23rd season as a head coach, with a 468-147 (.761) mark in her 20th year at UWF.

The two-day tournament is co-hosted by Regis University and Metro State of Denver, with matches spread across both campuses. UWF opens the tournament with a pair of matches Friday at the Regis Field House facing Azusa Pacific (11 am MT/noon CT) and No. 15 Wayne State (Nebraska) (6 pm MT/7 pm CT). After Friday, teams will be slotted into bracket play depending on their results that day. Regardless of which bracket (Gold, Silver or Bronze) they are placed into, UWF will play at 9 am MT/10 am CT on Saturday against an opponent and location to be determined.

The complete tournament schedule, including updated game times for Saturday after pool play is concluded, can be viewed online via the official tournament website on either the Regis or MSU Denver athletics web sites.

In the Argonauts' most recent visit to the Premier in 2019, they went 2-2 with a pair of wins over ranked teams. A year earlier, UWF went 3-1 and won the Silver Bracket. UWF is 21-23 all-time in the event with three top four finishes and 17 all-tournament selections.

Next weekend, UWF will return home and play host to the Walk-Ons UWF Invitational. The 2-day event starts on Friday morning as the Argos welcome Lewis, Oklahoma Baptist, Spring Hill and UNC Pembroke to Pensacola for a 9-match round-robin event.
