No. 12 UWF Sweeps West Alabama To Open Road Trip

The Argonauts held the Tigers to .050 hitting

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 12th-ranked UWF women's volleyball team got offensive production from nine different players as they defeated West Alabama, 3-0, at Pruitt Hall on Friday.

UWF (12-3, 4-0 Gulf South) hit .204 but held UWA (5-12, 0-5) to .018 and never let the Tigers hit above .050 in any set.

The Argos attack was led by sophomore Avery Rodgers with a match-high 10 kills. Jenna Zydlo, Camila Vazquez and Taylor Vaneekeren added six kills apiece. Vaneekeren recorded her seventh double-double on the season as she finished with 29 assists and 11 digs.

The Argos recorded their seventh straight-set victory of the season and improved to 3-1 on the road.

The Argos attack started off strong in the first set as they dispatched the Tigers 25-14 while UWF held a 13-7 lead from the start and never looked back taking set one 25-14.

Set two was a back-and-forth contest before a Camila Vazquez kill at the 21-20 mark proved to turn the tide for the Argos as they went on to take set two 25-20.

The final set was much like set one, as the dominant attack continued for UWF, taking a 10-5 lead before closing out the match 25-11.

The Argos head remain on the road tomorrow with a trip to Clinton, Mississippi to take on Mississippi College (12-1, 3-1) inside A.E. Wood Coliseum at 1 p.m.
