Argonauts Escape With a 1-1 Draw in Memphis

Dos Santos scores the only goal off a penalty kick

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- It was a hard-fought battle between CBU and UWF as the game ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon for what was a great game of Division II men's soccer.

Christian Brothers had trouble getting looks at the net in the first half due to the strong Argo backline with defenders Lucas Barankiewicz and Keegan Lynch. CBU midfielder Andres Solares took the first shot of the game in the 13th minute, but it went high right.

Forward Keegan Ancelin shot the ball inside the box in the 25th minute, but it was saved by the CBU goalkeeper in the lower left corner of the net. The second shot for the Argos was taken less than a minute later from Finn Werner in the lower left corner, but it was once again saved by the Buccaneers goalkeeper.
In the first half, the Argos had seven shots while the Buccaneers tallied three.

Eight of the eleven starters for the Argos had shots taken in the game. Three shots were shots on goals. CBU goalkeeper Max Klink kept the score tied at zero in the first half with three saves. Klink tallied six saves in the game.

In the half, each team recorded one corner kick each. Heading into the half, both squads were tied at zero.

The second half saw possessions by both teams, but CBU would get on the board first in the 76th minute with a shot in the box by Lucho Galizzi, who made a shot off a pass by Vincenzo Giordano.

UWF would score a little over a minute later with a penalty kick taken by Dos Santos. The score was back tied up 1-1. This marks Dos Santo's fourth goal of the season. The Argos outshot the Bucs 14-6 with seven shots on goal by UWF.

The Argonauts will be back at the UWF Soccer Complex for more conference action against AUM on Friday, Sept. 30 and Montevallo on Sunday, Oct. 2.
