PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF men's basketball team returns home this weekend, hosting Delta State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Mississippi College on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both games will be at the UWF Field House.
ABOUT UWF
* UWF is 8-10 through 18 games and is coming off a very impressive 72-54 win at Shorter on Saturday. The Argonauts are 4-10 in Gulf South Conference play.
* UWF is ninth in the GSC in scoring offense at 70.8 ppg and seventh in scoring defense at 71.0 ppg.
* UWF is shooting 43.1 percent from the field and is 7-5 when shooting at least 40 percent in a game.
* From outside the 3-point line, the Argos are converting 33.7 pct. They have made 46 in the last six games and at least seven eight times, going 5-3 in those contests.
* The Argos are averaging 32.6 rebounds per game and have outrebounded seven opponents this year - including three of their last four.
UWF COMING OFF A DOMINATING ROAD VICTORY OVER SHORTER
* UWF snapped a five-game losing skid while shooting 50 percent from the floor and scoring 13 fast-break points in a dominating 72-54 win at Shorter.

LaTrell Tate and
Daniel Sofield combined for 41 points to lead the team offensively. Tate led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-8 from outside. Sofield's 18 points came on 7-of-12 with three triples and both players had four assists. Dell Matthews had all nine of his points in the first half on 3-of-5 shooting.
* UWF outscored Shorter 35-10 over an 11:04 stretch from the end of the first half through the first eight minutes of the second.
UWF FREE THROW SHOOTING AMONG THE BEST UWF HISTORY
* UWF has made 76.2 percent of its free throw shots this season, its highest in any of
Jeff Burkhamer's eight seasons as the head coach. The school record is .764 in the 1969-70 season.
* The Argos rank third in the GSC and 35th in the country. Additionally, the 14.9 FT made per game is third and 57th, respectively.

TATE EMERGING AS A TOP SCORER IN THE GSC
* The move from point guard to more of a combo guard (splitting PG duties with
Jared DeHart) has benefitted junior
LaTrell Tate more than anyone could have imagined. He is the team's leading scorer with 17.2 ppg (6th in the GSC) and has scored in double figures in 15 games, including all 13 since the switch.
* In the last 14 contests, he is averaging 21.2 ppg with eight 20-plus point performances.
* Over New Year's weekend, the Marietta, Ga. native averaged 26.5 ppg in road contests at Montevallo and AUM. He had a career-high 37 in the game against the Falcons, which is the 23rd-highest in the country this season and the fourth most in a game in UWF history. Also had 16 two days later at AUM.
* For the season, he is shooting 80.2 pct. from the line, including 85.2 pct. (75-for-88) in the last nine outings.

MATTHEWS FINDING HIS SHOOTING TOUCH
* In the last four games, Dell Matthews has scored in double figures in all four with a 17.0 scoring avg, while raising his season scoring average to a season-high 10.4 ppg.
