PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF men's basketball team returns home this weekend, hosting West Alabama on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Alabama Huntsville on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both games will be at the UWF Field House.
ABOUT UWF
* UWF is 7-7 through 14 games and has lost it's last two contests – after winning its previous three. The Argonauts are 3-7 in Gulf South Conference play.
* UWF is seventh in the GSC in scoring offense at 73.6 ppg but ninth in scoring defense at 72.9 ppg.
* UWF is shooting 45.1 percent from the field and is 6-5 when shooting at least 40 percent in a game. The Argos have shot at least 43 percent in each of the last five games.
* From outside the 3-point line, the Argos are converting 33.3 pct. They have made 34 in the last five games and at least seven six times, going 4-2 in those contests.
* The Argos are averaging 31.9 rebounds per game and have outrebounded four opponents this year.

UWF FREE THROW SHOOTING AMONG THE BEST UWF HISTORY
* UWF has made 76.0 percent of its free throw shots this season, its highest in any of
Jeff Burkhamer's eight seasons as the head coach. The school record is .764 in the 1969-70 season.

TATE EMERGING AS A TOP SCORER IN THE GSC
* The move from point guard to more of a combo guard (splitting PG duties with
Jared DeHart) has benefitted junior
LaTrell Tate more than anyone could have imagined. He is the team's leading scorer with 16.6 ppg (6th in the GSC) and has scored in double figures in 11 games, including all nine since the switch.
* In the last nine contests, he is averaging 21.2 ppg with six 20-plus point performances.
* Last weekend, the Marietta, Ga. native averaged 26.5 ppg in road contests at Montevallo and AUM. He had a career-high 37 in the game against the Falcons, which is the 23rd-highest in the country this season and the fourth most in a game in UWF history. Also had 16 two days later at AUM.
* Additionally, he was perfect from the FT line, going 15-for-15 and has now made his last 21. For the season, he is shooting 79.5 pct. from the line, including 84.6 pct. (55-for-65) in the last nine outings.

MATTHEWS FINDING HIS SHOOTING TOUCH
* In the last four games, Dell Matthews has scored in double figures in all four with a 17.0 scoring avg, while raising his season scoring average to a season-high 10.4 ppg.
