Piller Powers UWF Past UAH, 69-54

The Argos ran their win streak to four games

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Zoe Piller turned in her second-consecutive double-double to help lead UWF past Alabama Huntsville, 69-54, at the UWF Field House on Saturday.
 
UWF (9-5, 9-3 Gulf South) ran its winning streak to four games and moved into a tie for third place in the GSC standings at the halfway mark of the league slate. 
 
Jaclyn Jarnot recorded her 11th double-double with 14 points and 14 boards, and Jaden Langford added 10 points and seven rebounds. Both players had five assists to lead the Argos. Haylee Luttrell had eight points and matched Jarnot with a pair of 3-pointers.
 
The Argonauts shot 48 percent – their third-highest game this season and finished with a season-best 46 percent from outside (6-of-13).
 
UWF's dominance inside on the offensive end resulted in 42 points in the paint, while the squad had a plus-22 rebound margin and only allowed the Chargers four offensive rebounds.
 
UWF scored the game's opening six points and led 8-2 midway through the first. UAH came back within one before a Piller layup gave the home team a 12-9 lead at the end of the period.
 
The second quarter went back and forth until the end of the half, when UWF reeled off an 8-0 run and scored on its final three possessions for a 31-24 lead.
 
UAH scored the final six points in the third to pull within six entering the last 10 minutes. The teams went back and forth for a while before the Argos put together two 6-0 runs late and ended the game outscoring the Chargers 12-3 in the finals 3:56.
 
UAH (3-13, 3-9) lost for the seventh-straight time and shot 34 percent overall. Jesse Jennings has a season-high 16 points. 
 
UWF will now hit the road for its next two games, beginning Thursday with a trip to No. 16 Lee (14-2, 12-0) in Cleveland, Tenn. Tip-off at Walker Arena is at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
