How It Happened
The Argos and Buccaneers began the match both ready to compete. Both team would have a chance at goal early in the match with shots coming from both ends.
Nicolas Meckien of UWF and Max Klink of CBU held strong in their nets.Â
The intensity heightened as the match continued. As both teams began to get in their groove, scoring opportunities opened up. Goals would open as Roberto Lagoa of CBU took the ball down the right ride of the flank to cross it in where his teammate Felipe Arteaga was there to top the goal. Arteaga's goal came in the 40th minute, just five minutes before the half.Â
As the Argos regrouped after halftime. A smart kickoff play to push their offense up the field at the beginning of the second half would prove to shove its success. As the ball remained in the Buccaneers defending half. The Argos earned a corner kick in the 47th minute, and
Fynn Geigle took the ball to the corner flag. With a quick pass to
Tom Preston who sat on the top left corner of the 18-yard box, the English native struck the ball low and hard to the bottom right corner. Preston's ball skipped through the entire CBU defense and Klink to give the Argos the tying goal. Preston's goal would be his first of the season.
Following Preston's goal, the Argos began to find their second wind. UWF tallied 10 shots in the second half of the match, out numbering CBU's two. With multiple shots coming from the Argos, the team was looking for just one goal to put them ahead. As the clock reached the 75th minute, UWF's offense pushed ahead and earned a corner kick.
Fynn Geigle, the reliable man in the corner, took the kick from the flag. Geigle's out-swinging ball found the foot of
Austin Marshick who finished with a one touch shot to put the Argos ahead 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining. The defenders goal is his second of the season.Â
