Argos Overpower Badgers in Friday Match

MOBILE, Ala - The UWF Men's Soccer team traveled to Mobile, Alabama to compete against the Spring Hill Badgers in their final away match of the season before the Argos head back home for Senior Day. Five different found the back of the net to give UWF the 5-0 win.

How It Happened
UWF came out the gates flying, scoring their first goal of the afternoon in just the fifth minute. Fynn Geigle was able to find Jaime Guillén after great opening play from the Argos to give the team the early lead in the match. 

Just under 15 minutes later in the 19th minute, Caue Novaes earned his first goal of the year after Josiah Fontenot found Novaes for the Argos to gain the 2-0 lead early. 

As the match continued, the Argos continued to show dominance out on the field. UWF brought on a new wave of subs for the second half of the first 45. Kainan Dos Santos and Keegan Ancelin a power duo up top, checked in for their team and made an impact. In the 42nd minute, Finn Werner worked the ball through the middle to find Dos Santos, who was able to get the ball to Ancelin to put the Argos up 3-0. 

Less than a minute later, Keegan Ancelin returned the favor to Kainan Dos Santos, and Dos Santos found the back after a shot from Ancelin was saved from the badgers goalkeeper to put the Argos ahead 4-0 just before half in the 43rd minute.

Concluding the first 45, the Argos headed into the second half with some confidence. As UWF continued to show great possession and shots, senior Bernardo Torres added to the total tally in the 87th minute with an assist from Jaime Guillén, giving the Argos a 5-0 final on the afternoon. 

Further Details

The Argonauts outshot the Badgers 12-5, with the the goalkeeping making four saves. Josiah Fontenot led the team in shots with three, and Jaime Guillén had two. Nicolas Meckien and A.J. Evansboth earned time in front of the net and were able to keep the net clear. 

UWF returns to action in Pensacola next Friday and Sunday. Friday, October 27th, UWF hosts West Alabama, and on Sunday, October 29th, the Argonauts are celebrating Senior Day at 3pm as they take on Alabama Huntsville in their final regular season match,
