How It Happened
Scoring opened on the evening in the 9th minute as
Marcus Pereira sent a shot from forty yards out into the upper right hand corner of the goal just past the UWA goalkeeper to put the Argo's ahead 1-0. Pereira's goal would be his second of the season. Hoping to answer, the Tigers of West Alabama pushed back on the Argos. In the 21st minute, UWA's Richard Lopez used his footwork to get around the Argonaut defense to get a shot off that would find the back of the net.
As the first 45 came to an end, both teams had some wind on their backs. The Tigers out shot the Argos in the first half with 6 shots to 4, but two Tigers sat on Yellow Cards after a dangerous play and from ripping the jersey of centerback
Eduardo Pampolini when going after the ball. Each team went to their bench looking for some extra juice so the second half.
West Alabama would find in their second half spark just eight minutes into the second half as the Tigers worked the ball up the middle right side of the field. From there, a slotted ball to Antoine Amet in the 53rd minute gave the Tiger's the go ahead goal.
After suffering a first half injury,
Keegan Ancelin found his way back on the pitch for the Argos in the second half to give the team some energy to try and find the equalizer. Ancelin did just that as the junior won the ball on the right flank, beating two defenders in a foot race into the Tiger's box, and blasting the ball into the back of the net. Ancelin's goal in the 67th minute was the exact firepower the team needed for the last 23 minutes.
Keegan Ancelin wasn't the only Keegan on the squad hunting for a goal.
Keegan Lynch the left outside back, carried his run up the left side of the field as teammate
Fynn Geigle dribbled up the right looking for teammates in the box. After a curved cross into the box and a save and scramble, Keegan's head found the ball and back of the net to put the Argos ahead just two minutes later in the 69th minute. His go-ahead goal would be his first goal on the year.
With 20 minutes remaining in the match, the Tigers were looking for any opportunity they could to score. Their efforts came to fruition as UWA was granted a corner kick in the 87th minute of the match. After the ball bouncing looking to be cleared out and put in the back of the net, the ball landed at West Alabama's Potien Lembo's foot, who was able to find the back of the net in the final minutes. Lembo's goal would be the final goal and equalizer of this exciting match.
