Swinton's Lone Goal Gives UWF 1-0 Victory Over Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga. --- No. 21 University of West Florida women's soccer team took a 1-0 win on the road over Valdosta State, Sunday afternoon.
 
Mya Swinton hit the lone first half game-winning goal that grabbed UWF's 13th overall win and 10th GSC victory.
 
UWF pounced on the Blazers early and got a goal in the 15th minute. Emma Beltz received the ball off a throw in near the halfway mark. Beltz sent Swinton forward with a long ball near the goal, who placed a shot in the upper corner.
 
Swinton increased her total goals on the season to nine and regained her sole spot as leading scorer on the team. She has led the team with goals for the entirety of the season.
 
UWF outshot the Blazers 17-7. Maciah Lipsey recorded two saves in goal.
 
This was the team's 10th total shutout and sixth consecutive.
 
The Argos concluded their final away regular season conference matchups. The final two games remaining will be played at home at UWF Soccer Complex on Oct. 27 and Oct. 29. Seniors will be recognized before kickoff on Sunday's game.
