BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UWF defensive end Jacob Dorn was named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
 
Dorn had a team-high eight tackles, with six solos and a pass break up in the 24-21 road win over previous unbeaten Delta State.
 
His effort helped fuel a UWF defense that limited the Statesmen to 25 points and 195 yards below their season averages. In the second half, the Argonauts shut out DSU and limited them to just 64 yards of total offense, and four drives where they went 3-and-out.
 
The native of St. John's Michigan now has 28 tackles, three tackles for loss, a pass break up, five quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery in his first season at UWF since transferring from Saginaw Valley State.
