MONTEVALLO, Ala - The Argos faced GSC opponent Montevallo this evening for their first match of their weekend play. The Argos would take the win in the evening as freshman Carl Noren would give an upper-90 left footed laser late in the first half. His lone goal would be the game-winner.

How It Happened

With a close match all night, the Argos and Falcons were both looking for the first goal. The Argos outshot the Falcons in the first half 7-4. Many chances arose for UWF but the back line and goalkeeper Tomas Valles Gilbert remained strong.
The scoring opened in the 44th minute. Finn Werner kept possession of the ball in the middle of the field as freshman Carl Noren created space for himself. As Werner passed off the ball to Noren, the Swedish native took just a few short touches to give himself some shooting space before using his left foot for a beautiful goal in the upper left corner. Scoring would remain 1-0 until the end of the half.
As the second half commenced, the Falcons came out with much more energy. Montevallo outshot the Argos in the second half 10-9, but the back line remained sturdy. Goalkeeper Nicolas Meckien recorded six saves.Â
As the final whistle blew, the Argos would earn their victory.Keegan Lynch and Jaime Guillén both recorded three shots for the Argos. The entire back line of Keegan Lynch, Furkan Artar, Fynn Geigle, Austin Marshick, and Nicolas Meckien earned 90 minutes for the evening.Â
