MOBILE, Ala. – The UWF Men's Basketball suffered a tough, 78-61, loss against Spring Hill on Saturday afternoon inside the Outlaw Recreation Center in Mobile.

West Florida drops to 2-2 on the season while the Badgers improve to 2-2 on the year.  UWF will open Gulf South Conference action on the road next weekend against Shorter and Lee.

UWF struggled from the field, only shooting 38 percent for the contest, to go along with a 26 percent mark from the three-point line. Â
Xavier Washington was the only Argonaut in double-figure scoring with 18 points on six for nine shooting.  Washington also continued his assault to the charity stripe, registering a five for 10 mark.

Channick Nkoma brought down seven rebounds on the afternoon while Sterling White had a team-high two assists.

West Florida struggled early in the first with a 37 percent shooting mark as the Badgers built an early lead at 23-20 with six minutes to go in the first frame.  A free-throw by Isiah Veal closed the first half as SHC went on a 15-8 run to close the period and go up 10 at the break.

The Badgers continued to build on their lead, quickly breaking the game open and going up by 17 in the first four minutes of the half on a dunk by guard, Steven Lyles.  The lead ballooned to as much as 23 two minutes later, with UWF only able to cut the deficit to as low as 17 with 5:20 remaining in the contest, while Spring Hill was able to coast to the finish line.

Walter Peggs Jr. and Timothy Reilhy scored 21 and 19 points, respectively for the Badgers as they shot 46 percent as a squad.  Eli Lenihan had a team-high four assists.Â
