MEMPHIS, Tenn. –  The UWF Men's Basketball Team was unable to contain a hot shooting Christian Brothers team, falling 93-55, to the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon at Canale Arena.

West Florida drops to 3-8 and 1-6 in Gulf South Conference play with the loss while CBU improves to 6-3 and 4-2 in league action.

Xavier Washington led all Argonauts with 14 points and four rebounds, while
Le'Tarion White and
Tautvydas Kupstas added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Â
Keith Hoffman registered two steals.

"The Union and CBU road trip is always a tough one", remarked UWF Head Coach Justin Mann.  "With the amount of travel and finding a different routine, it makes it hard.  They are a really good team and they came ready to play."

Christian Brothers was on fire from the beginning of the contest, as they scored the first 11 points of the contest, ultimately having a 28-7 advantage, eight minutes into the first period.  CBU would then go onto score 26 of the next 36 points, holding a 54-17 edge at halftime.  UWF only converted seven of 28 field goals (25 percent) in the first frame while the hosts shot 54 percent from the field and made 11 free throws.

West Florida scored 17 points in the first four minutes of the second half to get the deficit to 28 points, but it was not enough as the lead ballooned up to 40 on a lay-up by Anias Futrell, as Christian Brothers was able to control the pace the rest of the period and cruise to the victory.

CBU took advantage inside with 58 paint points and recorded 20 points off 13 Argonaut turnovers.  The Buccaneers shot 52.1 percent for the contest compared to just 34.9 percent for UWF. Â

Christian Jones had a game-high 20 points for CBU to go along with seven assists and three steals.  Four other Bucs scored in double-figures, including Christian Thompson who added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

UWF will be off until January, when they return to the court to face Valdosta State on January 2nd.  Tip-off against the Blazers in Valdosta, Georgia is set for 8 PM ET.
