JACKSON, Tenn. --- The University of West Florida baseball team was just shy in both games on Saturday and took a 2-1 series loss to Union.

Despite shutting out the Bulldogs in Friday night's game, the Argos (8-4 overall, 1-2 GSC) weren't able to continue the streak and fell short 9-8 and 3-1.

In game one,
Mike Scordo got on the board first for the Argos after hitting his first homerun of the season. The lead didn't last long as the Bulldogs (7-7 overall, 3-3 GSC) scored seven runs over five innings and took a 7-1 lead.

The Argos were able to decrease the deficient and scored the next seven runs themselves and regained the lead 8-7 heading into the eighth inning.

In the sixth,
Jackson Grabsky reached on an error followed by
Trent Jeffcoat being hit by a pitch. They both advanced bases on a wild pitch to put them in better scoring position.
Darrien McDowell,
Preston Moore and Scordo all followed with hits to score four runs in the inning.

Four hits and three runs occurred in the seventh but the Bulldogs responded with two runs in the eighth frame and took the win.

The Argos could only get one run in game two and was held to four hits. In the top of the fourth,
Dean Hotz doubled and earned an RBI after sending Moore home who advanced on a fielder's choice.
Moore led the weekend with three hits and Scordo had two. McDowell and
Jadon Fryman tallied a hit in each game.

The Argos have a quick turnaround and will continue on the road for a single game against Spring Hill, Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 5:00 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.
