PENSACOLA, Fla. --- Falling short by one run, the University of West Florida took a 9-8 loss to North Georgia in a non-conference home match.

Mark Townsend hit 4-5 to lead the Argos (11-9 overall, 3-6 GSC). He tallied three RBI and scored two runs.

The Nighthawks (12-10 overall, 5-7 PBC) scored five runs in the first inning. North Georgia extended the lead 8-0 after the third frame.

The Argos got on board in the bottom of the fourth.
Dean Hotz,
Jacob Bailey, and Townsend singled. With loaded bases,
True Fontenot hit a three RBI double to end the inning.

Townsend hit his first RBI of the game off a single in the sixth inning.
Darrien McDowell sent Townsend home off a sacrifice fly to close the gap, 8-5.

The Argos capped the scoring in the eighth frame. Townsend finished his performance with a two RBI single to tie the game at eight-all.

The Nighthawks took the lead, 9-8, in the top of the ninth that secured the win.

The Argos and Nighthawks will return to Jim Spooner Field Wednesday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. to conclude the two-game non-conference series. Â
