PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida took two wins against Mississippi College in a home conference doubleheader on Saturday. The Argos (13-10 overall, 5-6 GSC) outhit the Choctaws 13-10 and knocked out eight runs over the two games.

GAME 1: UWF 3, MC 2
A total of four hits were made through the first four frames between the teams. The Choctaws (7-18 overall, 3-8 GSC) earned the first run in the top of the fifth. Bridley Thomas was hit by pitch and driven in by a JT Vance single.

The Argos answered with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth. The action began with
Dean Hotz who easily found himself at second base after a walk and a Choctaw error. The next three at bats were singles by
True Fontenot,
Mike Scordo and
Jackson Grabsky that drove two runs in. Scordo and Grabsky earned an RBI each.

Five more Argo batters went through rotation during the inning to extend the lead 3-1 after the sixth.

Scordo led the team and went 2-3. Along with an RBI single, he scored the final run for the Argos.

The Choctaws shortened the lead by one run in the ninth off a homerun.

Jacob Estes entered to pitch in the sixth inning and was awarded his first win of the season. He allowed no runs on two hits in 2.2 innings played. He finished with two strikeouts.

Chase Wilkerson tallied two strikeouts in the final 1.1 innings on the mound and was awarded the save.

GAME 2: UWF 5, MC 2
The Argos entered the third inning at zero-all and concluded the inning with a 4-0 lead. Scordo led of the inning with a single. Grabsky made base on a bunt. An error occurred by the Choctaws that allowed
Mark Townsend to make first.
Darrien McDowell hit an RBI single and drove Scordo hit.
Trent Jeffcoat followed with a two RBI single. Jeffcoat went 2-4 to finish the game.
Jadon Fryman capped the scoring and earned his first RBI of the day.

Mississippi College hit a two-run homer to make the score 4-2 in the top of the fourth.

Two hit by pitches and a single occurred in the fifth frame for the Argos. This resulted in the Argos making their way around the bases to score the fifth run of the game.

Major Posey got the win and is now 3-2 on the season. In five innings pitched, he finished with three strikeouts.

Chase Stanhope earned his first save after finishing the final two innings on the mound.

The Argos are back in action at Jim Spooner Field on Sunday (March 19) for the series finale at 1:00 p.m. against Mississippi College.
