PENSACOLA, Fla. --- A tight game falls in the hands of Columbus State after they scored five runs in the top of the ninth to take the non-conference win over UWF.
Â
The Argos (13-12 overall, 5-7 GSC) got their first lead of the game in the bottom half of the eighth.
Trent Jeffcoat and

Mark Townsend single to take a 5-3 edge heading into the final inning.
Â
The Cougars (20-6 overall, 11-4 PBC) only had one hit in the top of the ninth but managed to score five runs. The numbers were similar for the teams through the first seven frames. Each team scored two runs in the first, one run in the third and tallied eight hits apiece before entering the final two innings. Â

Darrien McDowell and
Dean Hotz each pounded an RBI double in the first inning to stop the Argos from trailing. McDowell finished 3-4 on the game.
Â
Preston Moore earned the RBI in the third inning that drove Jeffcoat in to score his second run of the game. Jeffcoat joined McDowell to lead the team with three hits in four at bats.
