CLEAR BAG POLICY
UWF has implemented a Clear Bag Policy for the 2023 home baseball and softball seasons. The clear bag policy is similar to the one enacted at Pen Air Field during the 2022 football season and will allow fans to enter the facilities on game day to stay consistent with other game day policies across all UWF athletic facilities.
Each ticket holder is allowed one large clear bag such as a one-gallon Ziploc style bag or clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag that does not exceed 12" by 6" by 12". Fans are encouraged to bring ONLY necessary items to games at Jim Spooner Field and the UWF Softball Complex. Standard small clutch purses are allowed but cannot exceed 4.5 x 6.5 inches in size. Small diaper bags will also be allowed. All subjects and items are subject to search.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
West Florida took a win in Game 2 against No. 22 West Alabama on Saturday, behind an explosive offense and great pitching.
Hannah Harper earned the win in Game 2, and
Montana Young put together an outstanding start but took the tough-luck loss in Game 1.
Harper and Young combined for a 1.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts, holding UWA to a .160 batting average.
Kayla Mayo led the way offensively with a .667 batting average and a team-best four hits, while
Laurynn Boggs' base-clearing double in Game 2 turned out to be the game-winner.
SCOUTING SPRING HILL
UWF and Spring Hill met at the end of March, with the Argonauts taking a doubleheader sweep in Mobile.
Montana Young threw her second career no-hitter in Game 1 of the doubleheader, with eight strikeouts over 5.0 innings.
SHC has gone 7-3 since then and is now 17-2 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Airyonna Weaver leads the team in batting (.364), doubles (10), home runs (4), and slugging (.582).
SCOUTING VALDOSTA STATE
Valdosta State ranked 13th in the country in last week's NFCA poll, before being swept by Auburn Montgomery on the road. That made it six consecutive losses for the Lady Blazers, who enter the weekend at 32-12 overall and 18-9 in the Gulf South Conference.
The Lady Blazers led Division II with 101 home runs this year, led by Abby Sulte with a conference-best 19. The Blazers have five more batters with 10 or more dingers, which is a conference-best.
Samantha Richards is VSU's ace in the circle, and she leads the GSC in innings pitched (199.1), strikeouts (220), wins (23), and saves (3), while ranking second in ERA (2.14) and fifth in opponent batting average (.218).
ERIN MOON IS HITTING THE COVER OFF THE BALL
Sophomore
Erin Moon made a strong statement in her freshman season, earning All-GSC and All-South Region honors. It was a great season by any measure, and the Jacksonville, Florida, native has stepped up her game this year.
Moon is hitting .379 and is tied with
Madelyn Vasquez for the second-most doubles in the GSC this year (16), while slugging .569. Moon has been one of the best hitters in the conference this month, batting .429 (15-for-35) with three doubles.
The sophomore is also riding a 15-game hitting streak, batting .449 with 7 doubles and six multi-hit games in her last 15.
MAYO HEATING UP
There has been no senior-itis for infielder
Kayla Mayo this season. The Minneola, Florida, native has hit .475 in UWF's last 13 games, going 19-for-40 at the dish with six doubles. She's had eight multi-hit contests since March 29, and she's batting .471 with runners in scoring position in that time, too.
Mayo has been a four-year starter for West Florida all around the infield, and has come up with timely hits each season. This year, she's picked up game-winning or walkoff hits against Montevallo and AUM.
IN APRIL
West Florida's offense took a big step forward in March, and several Argonauts have kept it going in April as well.
Kayla Mayo and
Erin Moon are each hitting a team-best .429 in 11 games this month, and Mayo's six doubles are a team-best.
Hannah Harper has stayed hot, hitting .421 and leading UWF in hits (16) and runs scored (13),
Kelsey Hodges has hit .407, and
Emma Brice leads the squad in home runs (5), RBIs (12), and slugging (.933) in April.
