PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida softball team will get back on the road for a Gulf South Conference series with West Georgia on Thursday and Friday in Carrollton, Georgia. UWF is 15-14 overall and 7-10 in the GSC after winning a series against Montevallo last weekend.
The series begins with a doubleheader scheduled for 1 pm ET on Thursday, and the series will conclude with a single game at noon ET on Friday.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
It was a 4-1 week filled with offense for UWF, as the Argonauts faced Spring Hill and hosted Montevallo.
Kayla Mayo led the team offensively, hitting .563 with team-highs in hits (9), runs (6), total bases (14), and doubles (3). The Argonauts hit .392 as a group, with six players hitting .400 or better – including
Emma Brice, who hit two home runs on Saturday against Montevallo.
The highlight of the week was
Montana Young's no-hitter at Spring Hill on Wednesday. The junior struck out nine over just five innings of work, and she retired 14 consecutive batters in the win.
The Montevallo series win was big for the Argonauts, as they improved to 7-10 in league action. Mayo hit .700 in the series,
Kelsey Hodges hit .636, and Brice's two home runs were critical in the UWF victories.
ABOUT WEST GEORGIA
The Wolves from West Georgia enter the weekend at 9-28 with a 4-14 GSC record. The team has recently taken a game in each series against Christian Brothers and Alabama Huntsville, over the last two weekends.
RJ Janke leads UWG in batting, hitting .337 with six doubles and seven home runs. Isabella Pinto is batting .326 and leads the squad with seven steals.
Katie Morris has been the No. 1 for the Wolves pitching staff, with a 6-11 record and 97 strikeouts over 109.1 innings of work.
HANNAH HARPER KEEPS HITTING
Freshman first baseman
Hannah Harper continues to lead the Gulf South Conference in batting, hitting .467 in her first season with the Blue and Green. The rookie is hitting .491 in GSC play and continues to stand out at the top of the Argonaut order.
She hit .368 during the week against Montevallo and Spring Hill, with a double, four runs, and three RBIs.
SO DOES KELSEY HODGES
Perhaps no hitter has been tougher at the plate since the start of March than
Kelsey Hodges. The senior from nearby Milton, Florida, hit .444 during the week and added two doubles, improving her average to .418 on the year.
She has impressed in clutch situations, batting .438 with runners on base, and leads all players in the GSC with a .512 batting average in conference play.
AROUND THE GSC
After a slow start in the conference standings, West Florida has won five of its last six GSC contests and improved to 7-10 in the league. That stretch has put the Argonauts in the seventh position in the conference standings, three games clear of Delta State in ninth.
UWF has hit a stellar .361 in conference action, led by
Kelsey Hodges and her .512 average against the league. She is slugging .860 against the GSC, while Harper has hit .491, and
Bella Holliday has batted .435 with a .552 on-base percentage.
