OXFORD, Ala. --- The University of West Florida fell to Valdosta State, 9-6, in the second round of the GSC Championship and brought the 17-game winning streak to an end.

The Argos entered the eighth inning with a 6-1 lead. The Blazers scored eight runs on five hits to take the lead and maintain it for the remainder of the game.

UWF will take on two-seed Montevallo Sunday, May 7. They will play 30 minute after the completion of the 10 AM contest.

UWF took the first lead of the game in the top of the second. The bases quickly became loaded, and
Jadon Fryman hit an RBI single to bring a run in. With no outs on the board, another run was driven while the Argos grounded into a double play.

The lead was extended by three runs in the fourth frame. Grabsky led off with a walk and Fryman was hit by a pitch.
True Fontenot stepped up and hit a two RBI double.
Trent Jeffcoat followed with an RBI single to sit at a 5-0 lead.

The Argos continued to punch in a run
Preston Moore hit an RBI double that drove an unearned run home.

The Blazers scored their first run in the sixth inning to bring the score to 6-1.

Two innings later, Valdosta State had an 8-run inning to extend the lead to 9-6 after capping the frame with a 2-run homer.

The Falcons are 1-1 in the GSC Tournament – a 10-2 loss from Lee and an 8-2 win over three-seed Alabama Huntsville.
