MCCORMICK, S.C. - The UWF women's golf team turned in a school-record performance en route to a third place finish at the Savannah Lakes Invitational this week.
Behind a season-best 285 in the second round, the Argonauts finished the 54-hole event at Monticello Golf Club with a 296-287-302=885 total - two strokes better than the previous record set at the 2016 Jacksonville State Gamecock Classic. Limestone and Wingate tied for the team title at 875.
Senior
Kate Kenthack fired a 5-under-par 67 on Monday to turn in the low round of the tourney, which also happens to be tied for the second-lowest round in UWF history. Her 54-hole total of 73-67-73=213 is tied for third all-time.
Junior
Alia Scotka also collected a top-10 finish, posting a 3-day score of 75-71-75=221, tying for ninth place. Sophomore Mille Thompson tied for 21st at 75-77-73=225.
Freshman
Holland Davidson and sophomore
Kenzie Heba tied for 48th, with 236 tourney scores. Each player had a round in the low 70s that helped keep the Argos near the top of the leaderboard.
Freshman
Samantha Schultz continued her improvement in the early portion of the season, lowering her score each round from the first through third rounds.
UWF will continue fall play in two weeks when the squad heads to Dahlonega, Georgia for the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, hosted by North Georgia at Achasta Golf Club.
