Okada's Two Goals Uplifts UWF in a 2-1 Win Over the Mocs

LAKELAND, Fla. --- Manami Okada tallied two goals on the road over Florida Southern to take a non-conference 2-1 win. The Argos had an 11-3 shot advantage. UWF recorded four shots on goal – all came in the first half.

The Argos broke the scoreless match in the 30th minute of the contest. Julia Comin set up for a throw in in the Argos attacking half and found Lauren Ragazzone who was running to space towards the corner flag. With a defender on her back, Ragazzone hit a one touch cross to the back post where she connected with Okada. Okada then outjumped her defender to head the ball past the goalkeeper and get UWF on the board.

In the 43rd minute, Okada sailed another header into the top right corner that gave the Argos some breathing room at a 2-0 score. Okada drew a foul just outside the box to earn a free kick. Goalkeeper Charline Favier, who is now seeing time on the field, got the assist after finding Okada in the box for the second goal of the game.

The Argos controlled the first half and outshot the Mocs 7-0.

The Mocs shortened the Argo lead, 2-1, after scoring a penalty kick in the 61st minute.

Okada and Mya Swinton led the Argos with three shots a piece and combined for three shots on goal.

Looking ahead, UWF will make their way back to Pensacola for their home opener weekend against non-conference opponents, Flagler and Lynn. Games will take place on Friday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 10.
