UWF Shuts Down Shorter, 84-31

All 12 players who dressed scored for the Argonauts

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF women's basketball team used a 20-0 run in the third quarter to pull away from Shorter for an 84-31 victory at the UWF Field House on Saturday.

Claire Sutherland-Case continued her hot play, scoring a career-high 27 points with four 3-pointers and 10 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double of the year and third in the last four games.

Brooke Kane had 13 points and nine boards, while Tyashia Bostick recorded 11 points, five rebounds and six assists. She had three 3-pointers to help UWF finish with 12, its most since draining 13 at Shorter in the first meeting of the year in November.

UWF (11-6, 8-5 Gulf South) shot over 43 percent in each quarter and finished at 48 percent for its fourth-best game of the season. The Argonauts dominated the glass with a 61-20 rebounding edge. They grabbed 22 offensive caroms and converted them into 20 second-chance points.

The Argos led 15-11 after a sluggish opening 10 minutes. They then used a 10-0 run midway through the second quarter for a 27-13 lead. From there it was all UWF.

Shorter (1-17, 0-14) was held to 21 percent shooting and never scored more than eight points in a quarter after the 11 in the first session. Derrica McCall had 14 points to lead the Lady Hawks.

UWF will hit the road for its next three contests, beginning next weekend with a trip to Mississippi College on Thursday and Delta State on Saturday.
